A Norwich builder specializing in building energy efficient homes has won two national awards in recognition of its work.

Beattie Passive builds properties according to the passive house standard – an internationally recognized certificate that guarantees houses with low energy consumption and high comfort.

In order to achieve this, houses must have a very high level of insulation, airtight building fabric and a “thermal bridge-free” design.

This month the Carrow Works-based company was recognized at the Inside Housing Development Awards for the 13 affordable social housing it has built in Llangan, Wales for the Newydd Housing Association.

The company was named Building Performance Pioneer of the Year at last month’s Offsite Awards 2022 for its collaboration with Cardiff Council to provide 48 properties for homeless families in the city.

Nathan Beattie, commercial director at Beattie Passive, said the company was “absolutely delighted” to be recognized for these projects.

“These programs have pushed the boundaries in terms of sustainability and social value,” he added.

“It was a privilege to be involved and we are very proud.”
