A County Derry company has announced a £5m investment in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility as part of its long-term growth and development plans.
The recent investment by P McVey Building Systems, the leading off-site manufacturer of modular buildings, will also result in the creation of eight new job opportunities.
It follows a period of sustained growth for the family business, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has increased its turnover by 1 million over the next three years since 2018.
Founded in 1987 by Pat McVey of Loup, the award-winning construction company specializing in modular off-site buildings for the healthcare, education and commercial sectors is now also managed by Pat’s sons Adrian and Mike.
Younger sons Timothy and Shea also play key roles in the operations of the company, helping to form the team of 34 in addition to more than 60 subcontractors.
Prior to its recent expansion, the company had already invested heavily in its manufacturing facilities, having acquired the former 15,000 ft² Donnelly’s Cabins business in 2021 and the former 20,000 ft² McErlean’s Trailers facility in Creagh Business Park in early 2022 to add its 15,000 ft² manufacturing operations at its base in Magherafelt.
The new advanced manufacturing facility at Creagh Business Park in Toome will house three-story modular office space and a 32,000 sq. ft. factory that will replace the Magherafelt site as headquarters to increase efficiency and centralize operations.
The new factory will feature a range of energy-efficient and reusable heat and power sources, in line with the company’s sustainability goals.
Speaking of the investment, Mike McVey, Commercial Director at P McVey Building Systems said: “For over 35 years we have been supplying bespoke, high quality modular buildings and off-site projects to customers across Ireland and the UK are delighted to announce our new Toome – Headquarters to mark our next phase of growth.
“At McVeys we are committed to continued investment in our people, facilities and equipment. It is this ambition and innovation, in addition to our track record of exceeding our customers’ expectations, that has laid the foundation for our success to date, and we look forward to continuing on this path in the years and decades to come.”
In addition to off-site modular construction, the Company’s product portfolio includes the manufacture of jackleg cabins, vandal-resistant units and outdoor enclosures, as well as a fleet of modular units for short and long-term leases.
