The architecture of the new Intel CPUs is so novel that video games believe they are two processors

The Alder Lake Intel have a core structure that we have only seen in the mobile world so far, which is why many computer applications get messy when they have to work with these processors.

Until Intel announced its 12th generation, known as Alder Lake, the blue company had nothing that AMD processors could handle. This is how Intel returned to the ring after a few years in the shadows.

To be groundbreaking, the American company had to create an architecture that has never been seen in the computer world: High performance cores and efficient cores.

Yes, you are right, this design is not new as we have been seeing it on smartphones and tablets for at least 8 years. But the reality is that this setup hasn’t been replicated in the PC world … until now.

That did Intel’s 12th generation processors can be very powerful and very efficient at the same time. According to leaked benchmarks, this design does what it says on the tin.

So what’s the problem? Well, innovative solutions always have problems working if the environment is not prepared for this innovation.

There are dozen of different Intel CPUs, each with a nomenclature. The numbers and letters indicate the performance and generation of the CPU.

As far as we have learned up to 51 video games had problems with Alder Lake because through the two processor blocks the DRM (Digital Rights Management) software It was believed that these were actually two computers rather than a single computer with a novel CPU.

Happily, from Intel and Microsoft have worked to end this conflict, and after several patches they managed to increase the list of incompatible games from 51 titles to just 3: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Fernbus Simulator and Maden 22.

Intel and AMD have traditionally been rivals in the computer space. However, Qualcomm has positioned itself as a competitor for new devices in recent years.

Intel says that The problem with these games can be solved by enabling Legacy Game Compatibility mode in the motherboard BIOS. In this way the E-Cores (the low consumption ones) will be blocked while gaming and the DRM will not recognize that there are two processors.

As was the case with AMD’s Ryzen: Whenever an architecture breaks with the tried and tested, it takes users months to see how Microsoft and the rest of the software catch up.
