St. Johns County granted Costco Wholesale two permits totaling nearly $ 13.6 million to build a warehouse club at the World Commerce Center on Nov. 23.

Lexington, Kentucky, engineering, design, and construction company Gray is to build the $ 13.5 million wholesale club on World Commerce Parkway 215 in St. Augustine.

Jones Covey Group Inc. of California will build the US $ 60,000 gas station kiosk on 255 World Commerce Parkway.

Costco Wholesale Corp. paid $ 2.5 million for 17.24 acres on Nov. 18.

Lexington, Kentucky, engineering, design, and construction company Gray is to build the $ 13.5 million wholesale club on World Commerce Parkway 215 in St. Augustine.

It bought the property from World Commerce Center LLP, run by Steinemann & Co. of Jacksonville.

The business will include a tire center, liquor store and gas station.

The location is on International Golf Parkway and World Commerce Parkway. The World Commerce Center is located off southwest Interstate 95 and the International Golf Parkway.

It will be Costco’s third retail club, having opened one near St. John’s Town Center in Southside in 2000 and a second near Collins Town Center in Southwest Jacksonville in 2018.

Costco, based in Issaquah, Washington, also owns these two properties. Each of these stores is approximately 164,000 square feet.

Steinemann & Co. announced on November 18 that Costco Wholesale Co. had purchased the World Commerce Center property.

Steinemann CEO Frank C. “Duke” Steinemann Jr. said at the sale that construction is expected to begin immediately with a planned opening at the end of the second quarter of 2022.
