Poppelmann Plastics USA breaks ground for new plant | Local business news

CLAREMONT – Pöppelmann Plastics USA begins construction of its new warehouse with a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate a milestone in the company’s history. This event will take place on Wednesday 15th June at the Claremont plant.

The event will offer a meal, music, complimentary t-shirt and souvenir to all employees in attendance, as well as local officials and investors who made this expansion possible. The ceremony begins at 11:30 am, followed by lunch and entertainment.

Over the next three years, PPUSA plans to create 100 new jobs and invest at least $19 million in a new 10,000 square foot building on the company’s existing campus.

“Although this expansion is just beginning, it is the culmination of years of strategic growth and planning to diversify the Claremont operation,” said Craig Moody, President of Poeppelmann Plastics USA. The new building was designed by architects Gresham Smith. Edifice , LLC will manage the construction.

Since 2007, Pöppelmann Plastics USA has operated a production facility in Claremont where products such as plastic pots and growing systems for professional horticulture are manufactured. The Claremont facility also manufactures plastic components for a growing automotive customer base in the southeastern United States. Pöppelmann GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 1949 in Lohne, Germany, and its 2,500 employees worldwide create solutions for the automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and medical markets as well as commercial horticulture.

Edifice is a regional general contractor with headquarters in Charlotte and an office in Charleston, South Carolina.

Catawba County Economic Development Corporation President Scott Millar played a key role in establishing PPUSA in the United States and continues to support its expansion efforts.

Gresham Smith is an architecture, engineering and design practice providing full-service solutions for the built environment with a focus on aeronautics, building services engineering, corporate and urban design, healthcare, industrial, land planning, transportation and water and environment.
