LIBERTY, Ohio — More than a sleek office, the new headquarters for HD Davis CPAs and White Glove Payroll is an educational hub for the company’s clients and the wider community.
“We started out as a tax firm, evolved into a CPA firm and have now evolved into a consulting firm,” said Tim Petrey, managing partner of both companies.
“A lot of what we do is based on being an educational resource for our customers and our community. We’ve been aggressively out there during the pandemic trying to educate people about the government programs,” he said.
As such, the newly renovated building houses a training room where the company can host training sessions for its customers and employees.
Across the hall is the company’s studio, complete with podcast and video production equipment, where employees can create content for their niche specialties to share with their clients.
HD Davis and White Glove Payroll celebrated the grand opening of the new 7,300-square-foot facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday night.
Petrey and his business partner Joe Kilgore purchased the professional building and adjacent Churchill Park Business Plaza in October 2021 after years of searching for a new office.
Her former office was just down the street on the corner of Churchill Road and Belmont Avenue.
Kilgore said they spent just over $2 million to purchase the property and renovate the office space, which was formerly a doctor’s office.
“It had a lot of offices, which is what we wanted and we could see the vision.”
Construction work started in December 2021. The project was completed only with local providers.
“That was really important. These are our customers, so it was really important that we help them,” Kilgore said.
General contractor was Joe Koch Construction. Other vendors include: Rossi Painting & Fry Painting, Herks Flooring LLC & Cabinets, Performance Hardworks: Joel Feaster, Komar Anchor Service, CR Electric Inc., Pro Quality Lawn Care, Alexander Concrete Coatings LLC, Roll’en Painting: Jay Dennick and Majestic Canopy.
“We’re bringing this back to the community,” Kilgore said.
“It’s a good area. It’s right off the freeway so it’s easy to get in and out.”
HD Davis CPAs was created in 2006 by founding partner Harold Davis. “A lot of what we do today is built on the foundations that Harold laid,” Petrey said.
To the left of the main entrance is a tribute to Davis, who attended the ceremony on Thursday but is no longer involved in day-to-day operations.
A life-size painting of Davis with a gold harmonica is emblazoned on the founding wall, which is given to a single employee each year.
“He’s an excellent harmonica player,” Petrey explained.
“He’s an accountant by day and a musician by night.”
The staff decide who gets the harmonica by voting on who they think best embodies Davis’ work ethic.
“Harold has always been a great cheerleader for this community. He was someone who always believed in this city,” Petrey said.
“And he never really took himself too seriously.”
