GASTONIA, NC – A significant slice of Gastonia’s Franklin Urban Sports and Entertainment District comes along with hopes of bringing residents to the area early next year.
The Lansing Melbourne Group is converting the historic Trenton Mill into loft apartments on a plot of land next to the CaroMont Health Park at FUSE. Kaufman Lynn Construction is LMG’s general contractor. Ben Pruitt, Director of Preconstruction at Kaufman Lynn, said today that the first units should be completed in January or February. Rentals are slated to begin in December, he said.
The project is a key element of the FUSE District, which aims to connect downtown Gastonia to the Loray Mill. The Trenton Mill project is the first FUSE project to include residential units.
A total of 85 loft apartments will be created from the former textile factory building in the project, including studio, one and two-room units, said Pruitt. According to Jake Somsel, Senior Project Manager at Kaufman Lynn, around 20 units will be completed in early 2022. The entire renovation should be completed in June 2022.
