First Farm Labor Contractors (FLCs) in the US to receive Clearview certification for responsible hiring practices

Agricultural contractors provide essential services to US farmers facing labor shortages by recruiting and often managing native farm workers in the US and migrant workers from the US Mexico through the H-2A visa program. However, poor recruitment practices can leave workers exposed to unsafe and unacceptable working conditions, and unscrupulous operators undermine the reputation and competitive edge of ethical and responsible FLCs.

“Clearview certification is a tremendous achievement for a contractor and a benefit for their workers and customers,” explains Hannah Newcomb, CEO, Clearview. “Certified status means that a company has clearly demonstrated its due diligence and management systems for responsible employee hiring. We are pleased to recognize AgriLabor and AgSocio for this milestone that paves the way for more FLCs to apply for certification.”

AgriLabor and AgSocio have undergone a rigorous independent review of their responsible recruitment management systems. Approved test centers assessed the FLCs against a set of technical standards and control points developed by industry experts and compared to leading international practices.

“The entire food industry, from the large retailer to the individual farm worker, can benefit from improved hiring and employment practices from contractors,” says contractors Matt Rogers, General Manager, AgSocio. “AgSocio is honored to be one of the first certified companies in the United States and we hope that others will demonstrate transparency and best practice through Clearview certification.”

“AgriLabor is strongly committed to reliable, responsible and fair labor practices that bring farmers and farm workers together,” shares Michael Atkinson, President, AgriLabor and Atkinson staff. “We are proud to receive this certification and hope it will become a standard for all agricultural contractors.”
