Deliveroo has announced that it will be opening a pharmacy home delivery service in Newport.
The online grocery delivery company is expanding its delivery service to 110 LloydsPharmacy stores, including in the city of Newport.
The partnership between Deliveroo and LloydsPharmacy will provide customers with essential healthcare products for home delivery.
Lloyds Pharmacy partnered with the UK online grocery delivery service for the first time in 2020 to allow those who are self-isolating to receive medicine in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Customers can already order from 40 stores, but now the delivery giant is expanding a further 110 LloydsPharmacy stores in the UK, bringing the total to 150 in the coming months.
In addition to Newport, newly added stores include: Bristol, Nottingham, Exeter, Liverpool, Coventry and Manchester.
LloydsPharmacy’s top 50 best-selling healthcare products, including cold and flu medicine, pain relievers and at-home pregnancy tests, will be available through Deliveroo‘s app.
Carlo Mocci, Chief Business Officer of Deliveroo UK, said: “LloydsPharmacy has provided an important service during the pandemic and ordering from Deliveroo meant people who were self-isolating could have medicines delivered to their door in just 30 minutes. This partnership has already helped thousands of families and households and we look forward to bringing relief to those suffering from colds, headaches and sore throats across the UK.”
Kevin Birch, Chief Retail Officer at LloydsPharmacy said: “Pharmacies offer medical advice, services and prescriptions to customers and patients, but they also offer over-the-counter medicines for minor ailments and illnesses. Although LloydsPharmacy patients can order online for next day delivery, our expanded partnership with Deliveroo will enable more patients across the UK to access the care items they need in just 30 minutes.”
Mr Birch added: “We are committed to improving patient care by giving them greater choice and control over how, where and when they access care and medication. The extension of our partnership with Deliveroo plays an important role in this mission.”
