WATAUGA / CALDWELL – The Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offers a variety of courses for continuing education as well as for those who just want to learn a new hobby.

Here are the upcoming classes.

Basic welding

The Watauga Campus of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is offering a basic welding course at Watauga High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from August 19 to December 14. Mental health first aid

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer a mental health first aid course on July 28th and July 29th from noon to 4pm on the Caldwell campus in Hudson. This training helps participants learn to recognize and intervene in a mental emergency. It is excellent training for human resource professionals, medical professionals, business professionals, faith community leaders, law enforcement staff, and educators. General contractor training

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute are offering a general contractor continuing education class on September 11th from 8am to 5pm. North Carolina General Bylaw 87-10.2 requires eight hours of training each year to renew a contractor license. This course provides the eight-hour extension course, which includes the two-hour compulsory NCLBGC board course covering changes in laws and regulations and other content that applies to general procurement, as well as six hours of elective courses.

Institute for Furniture Technology: Industrial Sewing

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute’s Furniture Technology Institute are offering an Industrial Sewing course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. from August 17 to December 9 at J-121 on the Caldwell campus. Introduction to Industrial Sewing is designed to train students in the manufacturing concepts, tools, safety and communication skills that will prepare them for careers as a seamstress in a variety of manufacturing environments. The focus is on machine operation, setup and maintenance, threading, sewing straight lines, corners, curves and piping.

Institute for Furniture Technology: Introduction to upholstery

The Furniture Technology Institute of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is offering an upholstery course on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. from September 13 to December 15 at J-118 on the Caldwell campus. The course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to become an entry level upholsterer. In addition, the students learn the soft skills necessary for professional activity.

The course includes core competencies, training in upholstery manufacturing concepts, tools and safety, as well as training in employability, communication, problem solving and critical thinking. Institute for Furniture Technology: Automated cutting

The Furniture Technology Institute of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will host a course on automated cutting Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm to 8pm from August 16 to December 15 at J-121 on the Caldwell campus.

This course teaches the basic workflow of an automatic cutting machine for cutting fabrics to specifications in the upholstery and furniture industry with the state-of-the-art Lectra IX Mosaic automatic cutting machine. Electric line worker I.

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute are offering Electrical Lineworker I on the Caldwell Campus from August 9 to September 22, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Electrical Lineworker Institute prepares students for a career as apprentice lineworker journeyman. In this program, students will develop the knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems for residential, commercial and outdoor industrial and related power transmission lines. Industrial maintenance II

The Caldwell Campus of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offers Intermediate Industrial Maintenance (Level 2) on Mondays and Wednesdays from August 23 to December 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the S-103. This course builds on the knowledge you learned in the Introduction to Industrial Maintenance. Students are given basic instruction in a variety of areas including basic machining operations, reading construction plans, basics of industrial electricity, basics of piping and water testing, machine maintenance, troubleshooting / service, and machine safety.

Industrial maintenance III

The Caldwell Campus of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offers Advanced Industrial Maintenance (Level 3) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in S-103 from August 24 to December 16. The course builds on the skills learned in the introductory and intermediate courses in industrial maintenance.

This course is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position as a multi-skilled maintenance technician, where they will be responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of machinery used in the manufacturing or industrial environment. Plumber i

The Caldwell Campus of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offers an Introduction to Plumbing (Level 1) Monday and Wednesday August 23 through December 15 in J-220 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The course serves as an entry requirement for all other courses in the plumbing program.

This course introduces basic plumbing tools, materials and fixtures. Topics include plumbing materials, different types of fittings, how to choose the right tools, and basic plumbing systems. Plumbing III

The Caldwell Campus of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offers Advanced Plumbing (Level 3) in J-220 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 24 through December 16. This course builds on the skills you acquired during the advanced plumbing course.

This course introduces advanced piping principles as they apply to the plumbing industry. Students learn to identify and use a wide variety of pipes, fittings and materials in domestic water and sewage installations. The course fee is US $ 182. Scholarships are available. HLK III

The Caldwell Campus of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offers medium HVAC (Level 3) in J-232 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 24 through December 16. This course builds on the knowledge of the HVAC intermediate course.

This course focuses on advanced HVAC principles including fasteners, hardware and wiring connections, troubleshooting control circuits and motors, troubleshooting accessories, cooling units, ductless and variable refrigerant flow systems, gas heating, heat pumps, oil heating, cooling systems and zoning. Growing plants in a greenhouse

The Caldwell Campus of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will greenhouse plants in the CCC & TI greenhouse on the Caldwell campus on Tuesdays from September 14th to October 19th from 6pm to 9pm.

Students learn about seed pollination, creating new plants from cuttings and other non-seeding methods, pest types, soil types, ventilation, humidity, watering needs, lights types, temperature control, organic, GMO and non-GMO. The course also covers how to keep popular houseplants healthy through the winter and how to propagate new ones at home or in a local greenhouse. The instructor is Dave Updike. The cost is $ 112. Fall Academy for basic law enforcement training

Applications for the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Fall Academy 2021 for Basic Law Enforcement Training by Monday, August 2nd, 12:00 noon. The class meets from August 9th to December 10th. Scholarships are available for students who qualify. Training workshops on massage therapy

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute will host two continuing education massage therapy workshops for currently licensed massage therapists at the JE Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir in order to receive credits for their license renewal.

Deep tissue techniques for orthopedic diseases will be offered on September 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Computer shoulder unlocking will be offered on September 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eric Stephenson, LMBT, co-founder of imassage, Inc. in Chapel Hill teaches both workshops.
