BALLEN, Richard T. “Dick”

85 of Springboro, formerly Xenia, died Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on March 11, 1936, in Xenia, OH, the son of Roy and Gladys Jenks Bales. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Rita Joan Luttrell. He will be greatly missed by his dear wife,

Carolyn (Sweeney) Bales of 53 years of marriage who was by his side and caring for him

Nolan Thompson, Ross, Benjamin, Jacob Bales, brother-in-law, Don Luttrell; niece Becky Tittle; nephew, Sam Luttrell; and very close friends and relatives. He graduated in the spring

Valley High School, starred in basketball. Dick worked for

Xenia City was Superintendent of Roads, Sewers and Water for 33 years and retired at the age of 49. He then worked for Phillips Sand and Gravel for 21 years. He loved fishing, boating and was a notable water skier. Dick was an extremely hard worker at everything he did. He was a longtime member of the Xenia Jaycees, serving as president in 1968. Dick was very talented having built a large family room in his house in Xenia and then served as general contractor in building a new house in Beavercreek. In retirement, he liked to go to Florida in the winter. The viewing will be held at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit on Monday, February 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Xenia. Mass will be held at 10:30 am on February 22 at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia, followed by a burial at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery, Beavercreek.
