A construction worker shares a positive message with her followers

Darcie Richards, 26, has been getting a lot of attention online for her chosen profession lately. Richards is one of the few female bricklayers in the UK and thanks to TikTok she is able to inspire thousands of young girls to follow in her footsteps.

Richards frequently claps back at men who leave rude comments on their videos, saying things like, “Well, that has to be the most unattractive thing I’ve seen in a woman today.” In response to this comment, Richards posted a video of himself lifting bricks and climbing ladders at a construction site, which has been liked thousands of times.

Richards said: “There were so many girls, hundreds, who came to me and said how much of an inspiration I am to them. They think it’s great and they will do the same. But it’s not just women, half of my followers are men who are also very excited that we’re getting into retail.”

Richards got her start in construction by joining her father’s company, Richard Builders, and in her few years on the job, she’s heard every rude phrase people can throw at her.

She continued: “Fortunately, the positive attitudes of hundreds of thousands outweigh the negative ones. But I also get some negative comments from people online. When I do that, it’s always by men. You just see a girl and think she’s pathetic or that I want attention; They think I’m not strong enough or that I’m too slow.”
